Set in the heart of St. Ives on the old market square is the Golden Lion, one of St Ives oldest and best loved public houses. If you’re looking for a traditional welcome and a Pub that feels right; a coffee break from the day or something a little more relaxing, then the Golden Lion is the pub for you. But it doesn’t end there.
 |
Walk down the High Street towards the Parish Church and where the Market Square begins you'll find our distinctive sign. Despite his fearsome appearance, the Golden Lion has been welcoming St Ives folk and visitors alike for centuries. You may even meet past locals from earlier centuries who simply can't resist coming back to see how their favourite local is doing today and, perhaps, again enjoy the company and the craic! |

The Golden Lion is a pub of real character, supporting local Celtic traditions and offering sanctuary in a world that often doesn’t seem to have the time to even say ‘hello’. Whether local or a visitor to beautiful St. Ives you’ll appreciate the welcome, the chance to relax with friends and family, and enjoy the many treats that the Golden Lion offers for the true aficionado of the best in Cornish hospitality.
 |
Step off the street into the Golden Lion's Front Bar and you'll immediately feel more relaxed in the convivial environment of this traditional place of respite from the bustle of town life. Enjoy a quiet coffee or a drink with a well cooked meal from our Celtic kitchen - we know that you'll be impresed. |

Among many fine products served, Real Ales have earned the Golden Lion awards from both CAMRA and Cask Marque for the quality and variety stocked, and ‘The Lion’, as it is affectionately known locally, stocks a range of Cornish ales as well as many favourite beers and tipples. Food is a particular treat; Jenny and her crew enjoy introducing visitors and locals alike to some real Cornish dishes. Even the musical entertainment includes a liberal helping of local talent and new talent introduced during themed music nights.
| If you're looking for a bit more activity or just prefer a lively atmosphere, then try our back bar, quiet in this picture but, most evenings, thronged with people enjoying themselves: maybe playing the machines or selecting a favourite from the Juke Box, playing a game of billiards or darts with friends or simply having a great time and a laugh. On our themed music nights, this place jumps. |

If you’ve never tasted local dishes such as Raw Fry (it’s actually cooked and superbly too!) then try a meal at the Lion. You might even bump into one of our ghosts – look out for the boy with ringlets or the more imposing figure of Geoffrey ‘Dosser’ Dawes – a former landlord dying to return to his favourite haunt! If you don’t come down, you’ll never meet them. And, like everything about the Golden Lion, they’ll welcome you to this special place where your relaxation and enjoyment are our pleasure. Jenny Marks and her team look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

All true lions enjoy the great outdoors, if the weather is good and our regulars and visitors are no exception. Enjoy that special atmosphere of a balmy Cornish evening on our terrace. And don't worry if you've forgotton your watch (or didn't want to bring it on your holiday) because the beautiful Church Clock chimes every quarter hour |
