Open: 7 Days 9am to 6pm and 9am to 9:30pm in season
Porthmeor Beach is St. Ives' premier surfing beach, facing North into the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated in the town and is overlooked by the Tate, St. Ives - an art gallery of international renown.
There are apartments, cottages and artists' studios on Porthmeor as well as the facilities described below. The beach sits between Mans Head to the west and The Island the east.

The following facilities are available on the beach during the summer season:
- There is a licensed restaurant with an outdoor terrace serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas, open daily between Easter and November 5th. An evening menu featuring locally caught fish is served peak season daily until 9.30 pm.
- There are two take-away outlets selling hot and cold food, beverages and ice cream, and a shop selling beach goods and toys.
- Day chalets, deckchairs and windbreaks are available for hire, and there is a fresh water shower and nappy-changing facility as well as public toilets at beach level.
- The beach is also home to St. Ives Surf Centre which offers tuition and a surf-hire point which hires equipment for use for two hour, half day or day long periods.
- There is a lifeguard patrol daily from 10am to 6pm between Whitsun and early September.
During the summer the beach hosts a number of events such as surfing contests, art classes, sand sculpture and surf life-saving.

Of course, it doesn't have to be an all-action day when you visit us! You can just lie back and stare at the ocean. Enjoy the bright Cornish light which has attracted artists to the town for over a hundred years, watch the fishing boats bobbing offshore on the Scuddy Main reef, and perhaps see some of the dolphins or sharks which have already visited the bay this year.
Car parks closest to Porthmeor are Porthmeor car park (early risers only!), Barnoon and The Island. We are a ten minute walk through the town from the railway and bus stations.
We hope to see you one day soon!
